Mission Chretienne Vision Moderne Internationale
International Christian Mission with a Modern Vision
(Grenier Mountain Ministries, in Haiti)

Grenier Mountain Ministries (GMM) and Mission Chretiene Vision Moderne Internationale (M.C.V.M.I.) is the result of a partnership God forged between the David and Stephanie Roos family of the U.S. and Kesnel Cadet of Haiti in 2008. That partnership grew out of a friendship that began in 2005 when the Roos family ministered with another organization in Haiti for a short time during which David taught English and computers to a class of high school students on a mountain adjacent to Grenier. Kesnel was one of David's students.

GMM and M.C.V.M.I. are one and the same ministry organization with the same vision and goals. In the U.S. we refer to it as Grenier Mountain Ministries, while in Haiti our churches and schools are recognized as M.C.V.M.I. The names each represent characteristics that guide the unique approach to ministry that Kesnel and the Roos' strive to take.

"Grenier" means "what is in my hand". Since 2008, the people on Grenier Mountain and surrounding areas have been that which God placed into the Roos family's and Kesnel's hands. For us, the name represents that place of "small beginnings" (Zech. 4:10). It is also the literal geographic point where all this work began for us and from which everything else has branched out. To extend that idea further, it just seems appropriate that no matter where we minister, ...whether on Grenier, itself, on Thomassin, Port de Paix or any other city or country...whatever or whoever God puts in our hand, that is our "Grenier". We think that's pretty cool.

M.C.V.M.I., or as we'd say it in America, International Christian Mission with a Modern Vision, defines accurately how we like to "do missions". It's a "Christian Mission", specifically Christian as the Bible defines the term, not as modern fads or theological/cultural preferences define it. We strive to value every life entrusted to us and introduce and reveal to them the God of the Bible, not one of our own choosing.

"Modern Vision" speaks of our desire to do missions in a new and improved way. It has been our mutual desire to break through all the traditional barriers that separate people, even in what is considered "Christian" environments. In Haiti, especially, economic and social status have long been dividers, even in the church. At GMM and M.C.V.M.I. we are all one, whether rich or poor; black or white; American or Haitian...it doesn't matter. We share and live life together...eat, sleep, work, or play, we do not separate ourselves from those we minister to by gates and walls, whether they be physical or those societies try to impose.

"International" speaks of the worldwide scope of our calling. Right now, God is expanding our role in Haiti, and we're excited to see where He leads. At the same time, while we are in the U.S., we strive to serve and meet needs that are around us, whether in inner-city missions, the local church, or just among family and friends. We anticipate and look forward to any future "Greniers" God may give us in the future, wherever they may be.
