WHO WE ARE

In 2001, David and Stephanie, along with their four children--Olivia, Jesse, Jacob, and Emma--took their first trip to Haiti. It was a trip that God blessed every step of the way, and succeeded in instilling a love for the country and its people into their hearts.
They returned in 2005 to work with an organization for about three months, during which time David taught English and computers to high school students at a school on a mountain adjacent to Grenier. Kesnel happened to be one of David's students who quickly became a part of the family's life.
After returning from that visit, and realizing with great disappointment they could not commit to partnering with the organization they had been working with, the Roos' tried to find another way to get back to Haiti. It seemed God closed every door they attempted to go through.
In late 2007, Kesnel called the Roos' to share about a job he had at a school on Grenier Mountain. He and the other teachers had worked the Fall 2007 semester with no pay and all were leaving to try to find other employment. Knowing how difficult it is to find jobs in Haiti, the Roos' responded to the promptings the Lord put upon their hearts to pay Kesnel's salary in exchange for him going back to work at the school. He gladly accepted the arrangement and even went on to share his meager $50/month salary with his coworkers to encourage them to also stay.
By the end of the Spring 2008 semester, the church leaders overseeing the school asked Kesnel to approach the Roos' about expanding the financial arrangement they had with him to include all the teachers. All the parties agreed it seemed like a "God idea" and, thus, began what we know today as Grenier Mountain Ministries and M.C.V.M.I.

The Rest of the Story
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin....
